Quickie at the Airport

(Not that kind!) I’m on my way home from Vegas now. It was an awesome trip – lots of good times and memories, and got some much needed relaxation time. I read two new books – Veronica Roth’s Divergent and John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars. Loved the writing style in Divergent, and TFiOS…wow. I cried for half of my first flight because I was so into the book. So beautifully written and haunting. Read it, but make sure you have tissues. Lots of them. Also started reading Stephen King’s 11/22/63, and am enjoying that so far. One of the coolest parts of Vegas from the writing perspective was seeing some of the locations I used in THE IMMORTAL CODEX. Part of the book takes place in various locations on the Strip, between the Treasure Island hotel, Fashion Show mall, and a fictional club. While I was able to look up information on the Internet, it was SO cool to actually see it in person and picture the story playing out there. I was quite pleased to find out that something I claimed was in walking distance WAS in fact a reasonable walk. (I also discovered my description of driving through desert to get to McCarran Airport is NOT accurate. ¬†It’s ¬†practically on the Strip itself.) I also got the unparalleled experience of getting to see the Bellagio fountains at night.
